NTECH began as a consultancy practise in photovoltaic research at GCELL, where new chemistries were tested and efforts to standardise the company’s power-measurement techniques were established. Following that NTECH bacame a software consultancy, and later, at Northumbria University, whilst developing a selective infrared emitter's, it was realised this technology may hold promise fopr application within photobiomodulation therapies. 

Ultimately that led to My Thinking Cap — an R&D project exploring the use of novel infrared photobiomodulation technology as a potentially more accessible approach to supporting people affected by memory loss and cognitive decline.

The project is focused on reducing the cost and complexity of existing photobiomodulation systems, with the aim of developing a more comfortable, affordable wearable device — a “thinking cap” — that could make this emerging technology accessible to a much wider group of people.

The ultimate ambition is straightforward: make infrared technology substantially more affordable and accessible to people who may benefit from it.
